Important Airline Restriction Information
Please review this information as it may directly affect your quote
Airlines have been making a lot of changes lately — tighter restrictions on snub-nosed pets, updated kennel requirements, and lower temperature allowances. Because of this, your quote may only show the options that are actually available under these new rules.
We're not holding out on you — we're simply working within what the airlines will allow, and we always aim to find you the best possible option within those limits!
If you requested a specific airport (like Memphis) and we've offered you an alternate one instead, it's simply because availability into your requested airport is limited based on the information we have at the time of your quote.
We always do our best to get you as close to your preferred option as possible!
We know this can be a frustrating one — especially if you have a Pit Bull or American Bulldog with a snout longer than some German Shepherds! But here's the thing: we don't make the call on what counts as a snub-nosed breed. That determination comes from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), which established a breed list based on physical structure and provided it directly to the airlines. If your pet's breed appears on the AVMA list, the airline restrictions apply regardless of how their nose looks in person.
If your dog or cat falls under any of these breeds, we'll use alternate routing methods detailed in your quote. We can always move your pet — we may just offer alternative routing if necessary. You're welcome to send us pictures of mixed breeds! If your dog looks mostly like a predominant listed breed, we'll follow those guidelines. You can upload a photo at the end of this form for clarification.
(We know many Pit mixes have long snouts — but this is completely out of our hands. We appreciate your understanding!)
Snub-Nosed Breed List Restrictions
Continued from page 1
According to the AVMA, the following breeds are considered snub-nosed. Note: not all airlines restrict all breeds.
▪ Dog Breeds
▪ Dog Breeds (cont.)
▪ Cat Breeds
* Restrictions also apply to mixed breeds that predominantly resemble a listed breed.
Bengal cats are NOT allowed for import to the state of Hawaii, regardless of generation. If your cat looks like a Bengal, they will be exported upon arrival and sent back at your expense — regardless of what your documentation states.
Sad, we know. ▪ If you have any questions about this rule, please contact the Hawaii Department of Plant & Exotics Quarantine office directly.
