There are so many things that need to be taken care of before you make the move, shipping a pet adds another layer of stress that we would love to remove for you. If you have not already checked out the information available on Military.com, they have very handy PCS Checklists for download. They start with the “3 Months Before Moving” checklist and have another for each month down to the Moving Day and After Arrival checklists. We would love to see a Military Pet Relocation reminder in the To Do list on the, “Start 3 Months Before Moving” checklist.
Depending on where you are relocating, you made need at least 3 months to get your pet prepared. For instance, if you cannot qualify for the Hawaii 5 day or Less program, you may need to quarantine your animal for 120 days to comply with Hawaii’s dog and cat import requirements. That is the worst case scenario and usually not necessary, but you need to make sure you follow the checklist and meet the state’s deadlines to avoid the longer quarantine program. Waiting until the last minute can have disastrous consequences. If you contact us as soon as you get your PCS orders, we will give you all the information you need to move your pet to your new home. We make sure you have all the proper documentation from the vets office, the proper blood tests or gets micro-chipped if needed and we make sure it’s done in time to make your move as seamless as we can.
